video production

I work with a wide array of clients and collaborators to produce high-quality social media videos for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. I specialize in end-to-end collaboration, from spark of an idea to a finished product that reaches hundreds of thousands of viewers. This process is customized and adapted to each project and collaborator: I can help with coming up with compelling topics; writing outlines, talking points, and / or scripts; filming; editing; sound mixing; and building a following and a relationship with your audience. 

My background is in art, architectural history, and multimedia journalism, which is paired with several years in the corporate marketing world as the art director for a well-known national brand. I have worked with museums, authors, publishers, housing advocates, individual content creators, regional governments, and even a cooking school. My work has taught me quite a bit about what resonates with people, what keeps their eyes on the page, and how to tell stories that are pointed and sensational enough to get attention but resist the cheap lures of clickbait and fearmongering. Instead, my work leads from human connection, draws out the most invigorating part of a story, breaks down complicated topics without losing their nuance, and inspires the audience’s desire to learn more.

Whether we’re making a few videos together or entering into a long-term partnership, coaching sessions can offer the skills to ensure your long term success – as an individual content creator or an organization looking to make a splash on social media. During our initial sessions we’ll work through the challenging questions that face anyone making videos on social media, including: 

  • How do I come up with an initial idea and frame it so it’s likely to go “viral”?

  • How do I write scripts that keep audiences (with, seemingly, zero attention span) watching? 

  • How do I edit videos to make them clear and compelling?

  • How often should I post? How little is too little? How much is too much? 

  • How do I start talk to a camera without feeling nervous? 

Follow-up coaching sessions will include detailed, personalized feedback on videos as we begin crafting your specialized brand, online personality, and message. Key questions we’ll tackle in these sessions may include: 

  • How do I approach controversial topics? 

  • How do I deal with copyright for images, sounds, and video clips?

  • How do I get more followers? 

  • How do I deal with negative comments? 

  • How do I build relationships with my audience and fellow content creators? 

And, perhaps most importantly: 

  • How to know the message I’m sending is getting to the right people – and that they’re hearing it?

Here’s the key to my approach: numbers are cheap. You can do stunts, make offensive jokes, whip up conspiracy theories, and gain millions of views and followers overnight. Hell, you can buy them  if you want (really! It’s pretty cheap!). 

But if you’re working with me, you’re not just looking for big numbers. You’re looking to build an account with dedicated followers, who don’t just watch, but actively engage with what you’re saying – liking it, commenting on it, sharing it, making their own content based on it, and becoming a dedicated long-term allies.
