paper monuments

“A people’s gallery”

I designed and facilitated a large scale art installation spanning three major New Orleans streets, which included dozens of Paper Monuments’ poster designs telling little known stories about the city’s history. The purpose of this project was to elevate these stories so that passers by could read about the movers and shakers that created the foundations of modern New Orleans. They were placed strategically by major transportation hubs in downtown, so that people who spend time waiting for their busses had something to read. You can learn more about this project here on the Paper Monuments website.

These pictures, taken by John Ludlam, documented the Paper Monuments volunteers installing the “A People’s Gallery,” as well as the first passers by to read the stories decorating the city wall.
